History: Why are we called Ionians
The Club founder, Phyllis McDonald, chose the name lonian from a Greek word descriptive of an Hellenic race of people who occupied Attica establishing colonies there.
The district was then named Ionia. These people had brought with them their art and culture.
Ionian Club Members also enjoy Art and Culture wherever their travels around the world take them.
