The Newcastle Ionian Club holds a Lunch-Meeting on the 4th Thursday of every month, except December, from 11.45am to approximately 2.00pm.  (Current lunch cost is $30.) The cost may vary for the Club’s Birthday Lunch in June and its Christmas Lunch in November.

It is assumed that members will attend each meeting and, for catering purposes, those unable to attend must inform the Venue Liaison. An obligation of membership is attendance at, at least, six of the 11 monthly meetings held each year.  Sickness and other unexpected events are always taken into consideration.  Meetings are relatively short and informal and include reports from various activity groups and, usually, followed by a Guest Speaker.

Some members join the monthly activity groups, which form according to the interests of club members at any given time, such as Book Group, Bridge, Coffee Club, Craft, Mah-Jong, Movies, Theatre (partners welcome), Walking, Wine Appreciation (partners welcome).  These groups are either hosted by members in their homes or held in popular public venues and, usually, either follow or are followed by morning/afternoon tea or lunch/dinner.   During the year, various other events are organised, some of which may include partners.

An activity, usually involving a trip to a regional ‘place of interest’ and morning tea and/or lunch, is organised for most 5th Thursdays throughout the year.

Fees for the Newcastle Ionian Club consist of a Joining Fee (currently $20), and annual Membership Subscription (currently $35) – and possibly an Ionian Convention Levy (which was $10 but is not currently applicable).
